DAY 1 BERLIN – BRANDENBURG AN DER HAVEL – MAGDEBURG – WERNIGERODE

Departing the impressive city of Berlin, we begin the tour in Brandenburg where we visit the famous Gothic Cathedral before continuing to Magdeburg to visit the local farmer’s market. We end the day with a dinner in Wernigerode. (D)

DAY 2 WERNIGERODE – KYFFHAUSER – ERFURT – COBURG

We drive to the Kyffhauser Memorial this morning for a magnificent view before continuing to the medieval town of Erfurt. In the evening, enjoy the night  in beautiful Coburg. (B)

DAY 3 COBURG – WURZBURG – ROTHENBURG

After spending the morning in Veste Coburg, we proceed to Wurzburg where we visit the famous Residence Palace at the Staatlicher Hofkeller. (B)

DAY 4 ROTHENBURG – DINKELSBUHL – AUGSBURG

Time for a drive down Germany’s Romantic Road, admiring picture-perfect castles and medieval towns along the way and stopping in Dinkelsbuhl featuring buildings that survived both world wars. (B)

DAY 5 AUGSBURG – MUNICH – FUSSEN

Begin the day with a walking tour of Munich visiting at a local ecological farm where we taste local ecological products such as cheese, ham, and salami. The afternoon brings a scenic drive to Fussen where the evening is yours to explore. (B)

DAY 6 FUSSEN – NEUSCHWANSTEIN – FUSSEN

We spend today in the dream-like retreat of Neuschwanstein Castle, designed for King Ludwig II in 1886. Look out for surprising modern comforts fitted behind the medieval facade, including cosy central heating. (B)

DAY 7 FUSSEN – WIES – OBERAMMERGAU – ETTAL – INNSBRUCK – HALL

Travelling to Wies, visit the famous Rococo pilgrimage church before departing for Oberammergau, a stunning Bavarian village with fairy-tale-like painted houses. After lunch, we visit the impressive Ettal monastery before arriving in Innsbruck for a free afternoon. In the evening, we transfer to Hall and end the day with a delicious dinner. (B,D)

DAY 8 HALL – KRIMML – SALZBURG

A glorious view awaits at the Krimml Waterfalls this morning before we make the heart-stealing journey along the Gerlos Alpine Road towards Salzburg. (B)

DAY 9 SALZBURG

After a morning tour of the city, the day is yours to enjoy Salzburg – a thrill for music lovers as we glimpse inside Mozart’s birthplace, the imposing Hohensalzburg Castle sitting high above the city. (B)

DAY 10 SALZBURG – HALLEIN – WOLFGANGSEE – HALLSTATT – SANKT GALLEN

Visit Hallein’s old salt mines this morning before visiting two of Austria’s most stunning lakes – Wolfgangsee and Hallstatter See, along with the picturesque village of Hallstatt. In the afternoon, travel to Sankt Gallen and enjoy dinner in a real castle. (B,D)

DAY 11 SANKT GALLEN – BAD ISCHL – SANKT GALLEN

We spend today at Bad Ischl where the architecture is influenced by the Wilhelminian period, making the most of free time to explore the Emperor’s mansion, old churches and historic fountains. (B,D)

DAY 12 SANKT GALLEN – MELK – DURNSTEIN

Take a guided tour of Melk Abbey this morning before arriving in Wachau where we’ll enjoy a tasting of local wines. (B,D)

DAY 13 DURNSTEIN – VIENNA

Our first stop in Vienna will be a tour of the impressive baroque Schonbrunn Palace. A visit to the Court Bakery is a delicious highpoint, as patissiers prepare delicate Viennese apple strudel – the perfect way to end this tour. (B)
